CYA Podcast Book Review Policy

The CYA Book Review Podcast is by and for librarians who serve children and young adults. We select the books we read and provide in-depth reviews for librarians who purchase books and recommend them to youth. We adhere to the Library Bill of Rights http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy/intfreedom/librarybill/index.cfm, the Freedom to Read Statement http://www.ala.org/ala/aboutala/offices/oif/statementspols/ftrstatement/freedomreadstatement.cfm, Raganathan’s Five Laws of Library Science http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_laws_of_library_science and the Reader’s Bill of Rights by Book Chat Central.

We review all book genres and formats for youth from birth to age 18, including fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels. We review books of the current year and two years older.

We review books by small presses.

Publishers and Authors –
We are happy to accept requests for review consideration. Five (5) copies of the book(s) must be sent and will not be returned. While a book may not meet a particular reviewers personal taste we do our best to tell the truth about the book and how it will best match with libraries and their readers. ARC’s will be reviewed in our best time and will not be sold but may be given away to a reader. Contact cyapodcast@gmail.com for more information.

We reserve the right to refuse to review any book for any reason without notice.

If you are having a giveaway or contest for a book we would be happy to host it. We will need to know the number of copies available, they must be sent to us and any rules must be made available. Contact us via cyapodcast@gmail.com for more details. We reserve the right to refuse  participation or promotion of any contest for any reason without notice.

We do not review e-books or self-published books.
